Friedemann obtained his Masters thesis from the Freie Universität of Berlin, Germany, having performed his Diploma thesis (masters) research in our lab in 2008, and continuing his work as a research fellow in 2009. He studied germ cell migration in Parhyale hawaiensis.

He pursued his PhD with Jordi Casanova at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Barcelona, Spain.
