Meet Oluwatomisin Salami, a driven senior at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, pursuing a major in Biology pre-med. She wants to become a Cardiothoracic surgeon. Oluwatomisin was born in Ohio, USA and grew up in Lagos, Nigeria.

As an inaugural Du Bois Scholar, in the summer of 2024 Oluwatomisin worked with Dr. Suhrid Ghosh on studying the emerging cellular organization in the developing ovary of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Oluwatomisin embodies an easygoing nature. Eager to learn, she welcomes challenges and opportunities to grow.
